Bernie Sanders' Family Close Think Tank as Senator Runs for President
A criticism Bernie Sanders made against Hillary Clinton during the 2016 Democratic primaries is now hitting home for his own family.????The Vermont Senator’s wife Jane and her son David Driscoll founded and run a think tank called the Sanders Institute, that was created after Bernie Sanders’ failed 2016 bid.
????Jane Sanders told the Associated Press that the institute will stop accepting donations and will suspend all operations by the end of May while her husband runs for president.????Sanders criticized Clinton for her family’s nonprofit while the two campaigned against each other for the Democratic presidential nomination.????The move by the Sanders’ family to close the institute is a proactive one, so the candidate doesn’t look like a hypocrite for now being in a similar situation as the Clintons, even though Bernie is not involved in the organization.????There is a possibility that the Sanders Institute could start up again, but Jane Sanders told the AP that it would be only after her husband Bernie is no longer campaigning.????Reasoning that not accepting donations at this stage was important, telling the AP…????“...because nobody should think that they’re giving money to an organization and that gains them access for favor to anybody else and anybody running for office”
