Boy Saves Sister From Carjacking in Southwest Ohio

A eight-year-old boy was hailed a hero by police in Middletown, Ohio, on Thursday, April 25, after he saved his older sister from a moving vehicle when it was stolen while they were both sitting in the backseat.

Police said the children’s grandmother Nita Coburn was helping another woman into the emergency room at Atrium Medical Center when 24-year-old Dalvir Singh jumped in the driver’s and took off with Chance and his 10-year-old sister Skylar inside.

Security camera footage shows Chance pull Skylar from the car while it’s moving.

Coburn can be seen trying to open the door of the vehicle on the other side.

“The little boy opened the door to escape and the little girl started to jump out also but the man grabbed the hoodie of the little girl not allowing her to leave,” police said.

“As she tried to get away her little brother grabbed hold of her and pulled her away from the kidnapper and they both tumbled out of the vehicle as it was moving.” Coburn, not realizing her grandchildren had escaped, chased the vehicle and opened the driver’s door.

Singh, however, slammed it shut and drove away, dragging Nita until she was forced to let go, police said.

Singh was arrested minutes later and police said he was charged with “two counts of Kidnapping, Felonious assault for dragging Nita, and Grand Theft.” On Sunday, police shared a photo and Skylar and Chance with Officer Kirby, who along with Officer Engleka arrested Singh.

“What do you see here?

If three heroes was the answer then you are correct!” police wrote.
