State republican leaders are urging governor evers not to veto their k-12 education plan.... the state's budget committee passed a nearly 100-million increase for special education.... but that's less than a sixth of what governor evers wants... and he said today -- it doesn't get schools where they need to be.

Public education supporters rallied today... asking governor evers to veto the plan... republicans leaders say evers' proposal is unrealistic... and called on him to sign their plan... saying it might be the best he's going to get.

"this is a good budget for education, 500 million, special ed we increased it for the first time in eight years.

If he doesn't sign it 19 then who knows what's going to happen and how long it's going to take.

" now that the joint finance committee has passed the 100- million dollar plan..

It becomes part of the budget proposal... that proposal will likely be sent to the full legislature sometime next month.
