Medical Marijuana Card: Everything You Need to Know

Marijuana may not be federally legal, but states are still legalizing medical marijuana.

So what is the difference between medical marijuana and recreational marijuana?

Well, it comes down to the fact that medical marijuana requires cardholders to have doctor's permission before they can purchase or obtain products that contain marijuana.

Over 33 states and the District of Columbia have legalized medical marijuana.

Here's a complete list: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington (and Washington, D.C.) and West Virginia.

But not every medical condition qualifies for a medical marijuana card.

In fact, qualifying medical issues vary state by state.

However, there are conditions which are--for the most part--included on the qualifying lists for most states.

Those conditions include: Cancer Glaucoma HIV/Aids Epilepsy or chronic seizures Crohn's Disease Related.
