Trump's July 4th tanks ready to roll

CORRECTION: EDITOR'S NOTE: UPDATED TO REFLECT PARTICIPATION OF MULTIPLE BRANCHES OF THE MILITARY IN THE FLYOVER.

Tanks have arrived from Fort Stewart in Georgia as part of President Trump's planned changes to this year's Independence Day celebrations.

Contractors are setting up a stage for the president's speech at the Lincoln Memorial on the Mall, an unprecented event for this traditionally non-partisan public event.

"Did you know ....this country's independence?

White House adviser KellyAnne Conway insists the event is not about politics and is hitting back at critics who say Trump is trying turn July 4th into a pre-election campaign event.

"This is a public event...all the others." In addition to the tanks, and the President's speech, the traditional fireworks display has been expanded.

There will also be a flyover by the U.S. military aircraft including the Navy's Blue Angels.

Since seeing France's Bastille day parade in 2017, President Trump has taken a deep interest in having a similar event in Washington, "We have the brand-new Sherman tanks and we have the brand-new Abram tanks.

And we have some incredible equipment- military equipment on display, brand new and we are very proud of it.

" Along with the shipping of the tanks, the changes to the celebrations and associated security have increased costs.

So far, only the fireworks firms have confirmed they made a donation of $700,000 to the Interior Department.

Protests are planned.
