Hurricane Dorian Reaches North Carolina Coast

Dorian Reaches Land on North Carolina Coast.

The hurricane, which is now a category 1, hit the state's Outer Banks.

The National Hurricane Center says the storm still contains 90 MPH winds.

Upon landfall, Dorian has left nearly all of North Carolina's Cape Hatteras without power.

The storm is also responsible for the deaths of at least two people in the state.

The NHC adds that Dorian should be heading into around the New England area by Friday night.

But beforehand, the NHC says it will cause "life-threatening storm surges" on the coasts of North Carolina and Virginia.

Dorian has been moving up the east coast since lambasting the Bahamas last weekend.

It struck the tiny island nation as a category 5 hurricane.

30 people have been confirmed dead in the area and that number is expected to rise
