Ilhan Omar Slammed For Supporting Genocide

Rep.

Ilhan Omar of Minnesota has been widely condemned for her recent vote abstention.

Omar abstained from a nearly unanimous House vote officially recognizing the Armenian genocide.

Omar argued that the resolution was a political statement designed to condemn Turkey, which denies the genocide.

"Accountability and recognition of genocide should not be used as a cudgel in a political fight." She added that the resolution should've recognized other human-rights violations.
