Tonight -- the family of the man shot and killed by madison police in a planet fitness parking lot... are asking the state attorney general's office to review the case.

The police department's internal review board, the madison county sheriff's office and the county district attorney's office have all closed the case.

They said the officers acted within policy during the shooting.

Waay 31's sydney martin worked to learn more about the letter sent to attorney general steve marshall and what the family wants to see happen.

Attorney general steve marshall's office says it hasn't received this two page letter from dana fletcher's family.

Fletcher's family has not commented publicly since the madison county sheriff's office and district attorney rob broussard closed the case.

In the letter, the family states the still images of body camera video and surveillance video show a different story than bystander video of last month's shooting outside the planet fitness in madison.

The attorney general's office said it has no comment about the letter, but told me it doesn't review all police shootings.

The family also questioned a conflict of interest between madison mayor paul finley and the sheriff's office investigator on the case who share a last name.

The sheriff's office told me today the two are not related it's unclear if attorney general steve marshall will review the findings.
