Hot Sauce Co Helps Refugees By Buying The Peppers Their Community Gardens Grow

The peppers that give a hot sauce its kick are also giving workers a fresh start.

Business Insider reports New Roots Community Garden in the Bronx hires refugees to plant and harvest peppers.

In turn, hot sauce maker Small Axe Peppers buys the peppers from New Roots at a premium price.

This premium helps the garden sustain itself.

Small Axe Peppers also partners with more than 100 community gardens across the country.

Such gardens hire sexual assault victims, refugees, and ex-convicts.
