Truck crash on north Indian road into transformer causes large electrical fire

A truck crash on a road in north India triggered an electrical fire after the two vehicles hit a transformer, burning up £20,000 of cargo in one truck.

On January 6 at around 2:00am a DCM truck was hit by another speeding vehicle in Sandila, Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh, and flipped over, hitting an electric transformer.

Footage shows rescue workers extracting the drivers from the crashed vehicles, while trying to put out the burning transformer.

The DCM truck was carrying goods including medicines, batteries and panels worth around 20 lakh INR (around £21,000) that were destroyed in the ensuing blaze.

According to police reports, the driver of the pickup and his helper are going under treatment at the government hospital in Hardoi.

Firefighters took several hours to put out the fire.
