German zoo welcomes first new meerkat pups in seven years

VARIOUS OF FOUR YET-TO-BE-NAMED MEERKAT PUPS DISCOVERING ENCLOSURE OUTSIDE THEIR DEN ALONG WITH ADULT MEERKATS STORY: Germany's Zoo Berlin recently announced the arrival of four meerkat pups, the first to be born in the zoo in nearly seven years.

The zoo released footage of the unnamed babies, whose gender is not yet known, discovering their habitat last week.

The pups were born in early January to mother Nanni and father Josta, the zoo told Reuters.

Meerkats are native to South Africa, Botswana and Angola.

Most live in underground burrows in groups of about 30 individuals.
