Vincennes fire chief sonny pinkstaff has stepped down from his position as chief.

Pinkstaff served as fire chief for the last five years.

He will take his previous position as battalion chief.

Today, pinkstaff told news 10 he's stepping down to focus on his family.

Assistant chief brett bobe will step in as interim fire chief.

News 10 caught up with mayor joe yochum.

He had this to say about pinkstaff.

"sonny has done an amazing job and i am really going to miss him as fire chief.

But i also understand that there comes a time, whenever you are in one of those positions, it's like hey, i'm ready to step back."
