Bobcat gives back

Paradise High School Senior Danny Bettencourt is looking to create an athletic scholarship for Paradise youth.

Sports Director Vanessa Romo has the story and how you can help.

His team rose from the ashes in its comeback season& and now he wants to give back and help other teams in paradise do the same.

Sports director vanessa romo sat down with the paradise high senior and discussed why this was so important to him.

Danny bettencourt lived out his senior year on a national stage& he was the starting quarterback for paradise high's football team& the bobcats went 12 and one in its comeback season after the camp fire.

Nothing was new& we might not be living in our homes, stuffs different but our football was what kind of centered us and it was the one thing that brought us together and the one thing that felt normal at the time& and he thanks everyone who helped bring that sense of normal back to paradise & "we've received stuff from all over the world and i want to be a part of that too, of course we have all struggled and had our ups and downs, but i think that anybody can help and i want to help, too.

Danny started a go-fund-me to help scholarship athletes looking to play for paradise's junior football program next season.

A program he and many other bobcats went through when they were kids.

And the one that shaped the brotherhood we saw every friday night& football just had an impact on me that i don't even have words to describe it and i think it had it on each and every player& and he wants every kid from paradise to experience that feeling under the lights.

"a lot of kids want to play, they just don't have the funding for all of the equipment and stuff so im just trying to raise money for those kinds of kids who can't afford that and i want them to have the same exact experience as i did&" danny still helps coach the program& but says this is his calling& he wants to make a bigger impact.

If i can help these kids to play as long as i did that would just make me beyond happy knowing that i had an impact on their lives and if anybody can help with that then i think they should.
