Now, ion.

That will take us to newswatch 12 sports's cameron derby.

Cameron you have been talking to coaches and players around our aread, what can you tell us?

We will start with the news coming from the osaa.

An announcement this morning, that the osaa is cancelling the remainder of winter championships, which means the osaa basketball state tournaments are over.

We had six local teams competing, they will be heading home in the next couple of days.

The first people that come to mind are seniors for these respective teams. they have just found out their time with respective programs is suddenly over.

Not to mention, the chance at a state title, which is the dream for every student athlete is over.

I talked to crater head coach chris schmerbach and south medford girls head coach tom coleon the phone today, about how their teams are feeling.

"it is a really wierd way to end a special season and a special way to end a special season and a special run.

They are devastated.

It was pretty quiet.

Lots of tears.

We are kind of in the grief stage you know?

So, we are still kind of like, a little bit in denial and trying to accept it."

Butted to <"you know our kds are really devastated.

There are a lot of tears, very emotional.

This is truly a disspointment."

At the collegiate level, more fallout.

The ncaa announcing that march madness and other winter sports will be cancelled.

And the cascade collegiate conference suspending winter and spring competitions for two weeks.

The pac-12 canceling it's events until further notice.

And the naia cancelling the national basketball tournaments.

This means that our local teams, southern oregon and oregon tech, the university of oregon, and others will not be playing for national championships.

Players like oregon legend sabrina ionescu, and oregon tech all time great mitchell fink's careers are finished as of today.

I also got talk to mitchell fink on the phone.

He is hoping that the young athletes in our area will take this as a lesson.

"yeah i just say that it is a lesson for all people.

All of these athletes.

Every level of college right now are getting their national championships canceled, and its just a lesson that not everything is promised.

It just shows that, working hard, keep working hard and take every single day like it could possibly be your last.

So just, never go out there expecting another day.

Keep working hard and leave everything on the court."
