Tippecanoe County cold case solved from 2001 blood sample at scene

Tippecanoe County Prosecutors have filed an attempted rape charge in a home invasion case from nearly twenty years ago.

38-year-old corey (night-ing) gneiting is currently serving an arson sentence at pendleton.

This mugshot is from that arrest.

Police say in 2001 he entered the victim's home on hillcrest road and held a knife to her throat.

The victim said the man then duct taped her hands, wrists, ankles and mouth.

She fought back.

Police say blood samples were collected at the scene at the time, and in may 2019, the dna was matched to gneiting.

Gneiting also faces charges of burglary resulting in bodily injury and criminal confinement.
