City Council suspending meetings

Chattanooga's city council planning to suspend meetings for several weeks.

Want to cancel their meetings for the rest of the month due to coronavirus.

Councilman erskine oglesby says he is going to make a recommendation tomorrow at their strategic planning meeting to suspend meetings temporarily.

He says this is the best thing to do after mayor andy berke declared a state of emergency for the city.

Councilman oglesby says this will help residents and council members.

"it is for the health and safety of our members.

They've said to avoid close socialization and to reduce the density of the people in a given area and given the number of people that come to our city council, this i believe is the responsible thing to do."
