Monday, Indiana State University announced major changes to keep students and staff safe during the Coronavirus.

As part of the precautions, the spring graduation ceremony was canceled.

Indiana state university is taking major steps to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

That's after announcing spring graduation is cancelled.

I-s-u- will hold a virtual commencement instead.

News 10's jordan kudisch joins us live this morning from i-s-u's campus.

She spoke with students and staff... and has their reaction to the latest update.

There's very mixed feelings about this news.

Some say they're glad the school is taking steps to safety..

Others are upset they won't walk the stage.

As part of the new requirement..

Graduation will be held online.

If they want..

Students can technically graduate and walk the stage in december.

I got the chance to interview with a student who's already fled the campus.

She's currently in south bend indiana..

Completeling the rest of the semester online.

"martha alsip" told me it's challenging to see her fellow sycamores not cross the stage.

And she's hopeful to return to the classroom soon.

Classroom soon.

"i feel so bad for all of the seniors that have worked so hard these four years even more to get to where they are and some of them are first gen so their parents won't get to see them graduate which is really heartbreaking."

In 30 minutes you'll hear from a professor who explains why she's behind the decision to cancel.
