As many people flock to stores to stock up on food for possible quarantine... there are many people in our community who can't afford to do that.

The manna house in huntsville is helping them.

It will do so for as long as it can.

Waay 31's sophia borrelli shows us what they are doing to keep people and volunteers safe.

Sophia look live: 'here at the manna house they are making sure people line up 10 at a time and then have 5 feet of space in between to make sure people stay healthy."

Fran fluhler, director of the manna house: "we believe the community helps the community."

The director of the manna house fran fluhler says they will continue to stay open for as long as possible during this pandemic.

She says they have trained for situations like this and are taking extra precautions to keep people safe.

That includes hand washing and practicing social distancing.

She says with many people maybe facing financial hardship after being impacted by the coronavirus - they can come here to the manna house for food.

Fran fluhler, director of the manna house: "they need good and they don't qualify for food stamps, they don't know where to go to get help, it's very key that we can stay open as long as possible."

Sophia looklive: volunteers are also making house calls to deliver food to the elderly and people who can not get to this location.

Fluhler says the community has really stepped up to help but they can always use monetary donations and volunteers.
