Ambulance workers changing how they respond

Rodneya, huntsville's ambulance service is now changing how they respond to sick patients.

If you call 9-1-1 for a medical emergency, you will now be asked questions to find out if you have a fever or certain symptoms. this allows paramedics time to put on personal protective equipment before they arrive.

It says no staff members have tested positive for coronavirus but 4 paramedics are self-isolating right now.

Those employees only have about 4 days left before they can return to work.

The ambulance services says the number of daily calls they're responding is down..but they still have the same number of ambulances on the street to distribute the workload.

That's because calls that require them to put on personal protective equipment can take longer.
