A springfield murder victim's family has a message for anyone affected by domestic violence during this pandemic.

Kezi 9 news reporter kennedy dendy spoke to members of krystal jones' family about the legacy she leaves behind and how they want her to be remembered.

Parents: "she was a bright star in any situation.

She was a very bright light in every situation."

Krystal jones leaves behind two young boys.

And her family and friends want everyone to know the type of person she*truly was.

Parents: "she was always there for other people to help them with tragic times in their life.

She was always a shoulder to lean on."

Krystal was a caregiver to many.

Once worked at womenspace.

Was a safety officer for lane community college..

And had a true passion for the criminal justice system and helping those with their battles.

She died on april 3rd --- shot multiple times in the apartment she shared with her husband... gino matay.

Parents: "he found a kink in her armor and he exploited that."

6pm bridge: a memorial fund for krystal has already reached its $3,000 goal in just two days.

I'm told by family and friends that they will forever be advocates for those who are and have been affected by domestic violence.

Matay is charged with krystal's murder.

Sister: "i believe that with the shelter in place that did contribute to her death because there are a lot of abusers who are now stuck with the people they are abusing."

Gabby says that krystal was not only her sister...but her*best friend sister: "it still doesn't feel real.

But my sister, she's gone, and i'm devastated."

And through this darkness..*this is what krsytal's family would like their daughter to be known for..

"that she be remembered as a believer in jesus christ."
