US States Band Together for Economy Reopening Plans On the west coast, California Governor Gavin Newsom is leading a coalition joined by Oregon and Washington.

The east coast's group consists of seven states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Combined, the 10 states make up nearly 40 percent of America's economy.

Two of them, California and New York, are responsible for 23 percent.

According to Reuters, all of them are operating separately from the White House.

The plans come after President Trump declared he had ultimate authority on when parts of the economy should open back up.

Based on specific needs, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says each state will make their own reopening plans in the end.
