Hey good evening everyone... the platt name is plastered all over huntington university and for good reason...ty platt was a fixture there until his retirement as head men's basketball coach last month... and well it's never easy to follow a coaching legend..

The forester believe they've found the man to do so... lori culler: "it's my distinct pleasure to announce kory alford as our next head men's basketball coach."just over a month removed from legendary coach ty platt announcing his retirement, huntington has found their new bench boss.

Kory alford: "it just felt like a perfect fit for me, and something that i just felt called to apply for and pursue very aggressively."this will be the first head coaching gig for the 27-year-old alford.

Kory alford: "it's a blessing, it's a privilege, i'm very honored to have this opportunity, at this young age, especially.

But, it is something i feel ready for.

It's something i feel very well prepared for."and he should feel that way for good reason..

Alford's basketball lineage is long.grandfather sam is a member of the indiana basketball hall of fame, and dad steve suited up for iu before head coaching stints locally at manchester, and most recently nationally at ucla and nevada.alford: "a lot of the advice i've gotten from my dad has been just to really embrace the community, embrace the alumni.

And, i mean, just like any level you're only as good as the talent you can get.

And so, recruiting is a huge part of what we really have to hit the ground running on, and i think a lot of the advice i've gotten from my dad just throughout working with him for the last six years will pay off for me in this position."but make no mistakes about... he's here to win and bring the program back to naia prominence."we have our work cut out for us, there's great coaches in the league, there's great tradition in the league.

And so honestly, the safe answer is to say 3-5 years when we can get the program rolling, that's kind of the traditional mark to say, but honestly
