Respite center construction well underway

Construction on Lane County's Respite and Recovery Center on River Avenue in Eugene is off to a quick start, according to county officials.

One of the bottom four states across the nation... according to the white housecoronavirus task force.

Lane county officials say the under- construction respite and recovery center here on river avenue is one prong of their coronavirus response -- but much of the road ahead relies on increased testing.

Reports show that an email from the white house labeled oregon, montana, oklahoma and maine as the only states able to test fewer than 30 in 1 thousand people per month.

Jason davis says there's no doubt testing*has been low... but with more private labs getting equipped-- that number is primed to rise.

"we want to have testing available to as many people as possible.

That helps us not only track and identify the illness but also help encourage people to follow the recommendations we are making with the knowledge of their own health status."

The oregon health authority just revised its testing guidelines -- prioritizing at-risk groups and front line workers.
