Businesses Cited After Violating Health Order

A coronavirus update.

This morning multiple businesses in huntsville are facing citations after police say they violated the health order by opening when they weren't allowed to.

Waay31s sierra phillips is live in huntsville.

Sierra, how many businesses were cited?

Police have sited three businesses since saturday and that could increase.

Right now, police say they're getting complaints everyday about businesses violating the health order.

Police said a beauty supply store, nail salon and furniture store were all caught with customers inside when they were supposed to be closed.

Police said each business owner had already received warnings and is now facing a fine of up to five hundred dollars.

An officer explained how one of the stores tried to find a loophole to be considered essential.

Kenny adams, huntsville police officer "if you own a furniture store and have not previously sold grocery items you cannot implement that into your store just so you can get business.

And the thing that was a catch all..yes that was done.

But also there were customers coming out that just purchased furniture."

Police say if they are forced to return to any of those business who weren't complying, the owner could next face an arrest.

Huntsville police ask that if you believe a business is violating the health order, give them a call.
