I'm tucker sargent our top story tonight at 5:30: more than 80 million taxpayers have received stimulus checks, thanks to the cares act, and now lawmakers are proposing a bill that would include a new round of stimulus checks.

The proposal is called the emergency money for the people act.

If approved, it will offer more payment options like checks, pre-paid debit cards,and mobile money platforms. a mercer university economic professor says lawmakers should recognize that we have a supply problem, not a demand problem.

He says lawmakers should remove barriers like price control, high taxes and tariffs.
