Heavy snow and trees down in Cherry Valley

Cherry Valley had two feet of heavy wet snow, bringing down some trees and power lines.

None 26 sec "yesterday morning rainfall began for the mohawk valley, but just outside of there, here in cherry valley, they saw lots of snow.

Vo and that started at noon yesterday until 7pm, they already had 9 inches on the ground with an additional 4 inches by this morning.

Standup so, total snowfall amounts, they're seeing around 13 inches of snow up here in cherry valley, and that's mainly for the higher elevations.

Vo but locals in cherry valley aren't surprised to see the snow.

Vo this snow was very wet and heavy, mainly because of the temperature.

Standup with temperatures right around freezing, we have lots of water in the air, and that's created some very heavy wet snow.

And you can see the snow here, very easy to just pick up a big chunk like this.

It's sticking together very easily and as you can see behind me, it's sticking on people's houses, as that's falling off the front porch there.

Standup "even though it looks like winter now, with warmer weather forecasted for the next couple of days, we're expecting a lot of this snow to melt.

Filling up creeks and rivers and also rain is forecasted later in the week.
