Republicans returned to montgomery monday morning to start working on the state's budget.

Governor kay ivey questioned the decision because nobody knows how much money will be lost due to coronavirus.

I asked madison county commission chair dale strong what he expects to see what and the impacts for north alabama.

We're fortunate here in the third largest county in alabama to have quality education.

That quality education leads to the ability to recruit quality jobs here in north alabama.

>> strong said it's too early to know how much the budget can change from initial expectations but told me he doesn't expect any to furlough county workers.

>> chairman strong: there are going to have to be adjustments made.

There have been furloughs in different locations.

Again, sales tax is critical to sustaining the quality of life that we desire.

>> now, i reached out to state lawmakers today who represent us here in north alabama about the first day back in montgomery since march.
