Gumbos" in terre haute is holding off on re-opening their doors.

News 10's jordan kudisch joins us live from our newsroom to explain why.

The store has been closed since march 15th... and they likely won't re-open until the end of may.

But when you come back it will look much different... and may be for the better.

I spoke with the owner, jeffrey haber-mil.

He says they're making some major renovations..

Like re-doing how they serve food.

Everything will now be done in the kitchen..

Instead of out in front of guests.

You're looking at a sneak peek of those renovations.

He says this will give people some peace that their food is not at risk to coronavirus.

The shop has been in the downtown area for the past 9 years.

He says this time off has tested their abilities to stay open..

And they can't do it without the help from the community.

"as a community here, the local vendors we need your help.

Whether its all the way down south or all the way up north, especially downtown.

" why he believes renovations may bring in more customers..
