U.S. Representative Roger Marshall won the Kansas Republican primary for the Senate on Tuesday, defeating anti-immigration firebrand Kris Kobach with the help of the party establishment, which feared Kobach would hurt Republican chances in the fall. Ryan Brooks reports.
Rashida Tlaib is on the verge of losing her seat in the House of Representatives. Tlaib represents Michigan’s 13th Congressional District. She won it in 2018 after Rep. John Conyers retired. In 2018 Tlaib defeated Detroit City Council President Brenda Jones by 1 point. Now the two are facing off in the August 4th primary. Slate reports that Jones is set to annihilate Tlaib tat the ballot box. Last cycle, Tlaib and Jones were on the ballot with four other candidates.

Jones is leading in the polls for the Aug. 4 Democratic primary. She has wide ranging support throughout the district. She also has a large contingent of influential Detroit ministers and Rev. Wendell Anthony, the president of the Detroit chapter of the N.A.A.C.P.

If Tlaib wins her primary she will face beloved Michigan businessman Alfred "Al" Lemmo. The Washington Times reports that Tlaib's reputation in her district has been cratering in recent weeks.
