Trails and Treads in Tupelo have seen a large increase in sales because people are wanting to get out of the house, so they are deciding to buy a bike.

Bicycle sales have shot up in the last two months in tupelo.

Wtva's chelsea brown is live at a bike shop where she spoke with the owner about how sales have skyrocketed.

I spoke with the owner terry butler who tells me why more people are buying bikes.

Trails and treads ) terry butler- owner "they are just buying a bike to get out and get exercise, gyms are closed everything is closed and i think they are bored of being in the house."

Terry butler says that a lot of customers are coming in to buy leisure bikes, but the electronic bike sales are starting to increase.

They average around.

"it assist you so you can go further and ride with people that are in better shape."

Butler says that so many customers bought the lower end bikes that he won't be able to get more until august.

Nat sound i asked butler where bikers ride around the area.

"and people are going over to tombigbee state park they have a nice trail system over there, trace state park has a nice trail system over there."

Terry butler says sales have been much higher than normal because of the coronavirus since many people are getting outside.

"i've probably sold more bikes the last 2 months with the coronavirus than i did the whole last year."
