Sophia borrelli found out how much employees at the marshall county's sheriff's awfs will be getting and why.

>> as law enforcement the marshall county's sheriff's employees are essential in keeping the public safe during this pandemic.

That's why they voted to give 82 marshall county sheriff office employees a one-time payment of $400 in hazard duty pay.

The sheriff told me wednesday's vote for financial relief was important because his deputies are potentially exposing themselves every time they go out on a call or come to work at the jail.

>> front line workers was health care, whether it's law enforcement, fire, public safety, ems, i think they all deserve hazard duty pay.

>> the sheriff told me the money will come out of the county's general fund.

He said they are looking into different options like federal assistance to reimburse some of the costs.
