American Red Cross to Test Blood Donations for COVID-19 Antibodies On Monday, the American Red Cross announced that they would be testing all blood, plasma and platelet donations for COVID-19 antibodies.

The organization said they hoped it would provide “valued donors” with insight into whether they’d been exposed to COVID-19 or not.

American Red Cross Results from the American Red Cross’ antibody tests will be delivered within seven to ten days via their donor app or website.

They also said that they hoped performing COVID-19 antibody testing would encourage more people to donate blood.

Blood donations have severely dropped off since the beginning of the pandemic due to COVID-19 caused restrictions.

However, the need for a stable supply of blood has not dwindled and blood is perishable, meaning it can't be stockpiled.
