3 ?nats?almost three weeks since the first day of protests outside the allen county courthouse...a plan is made.i think we're heading in the right directionfort wayne mayor tom henry speaking thursday afternoon... discussing the 'moving forward together' action plan.that was to make sure our pd was operating with proper protocol in place and racial inequity was addressed by administration the plan sets up a commission on police reform and racial justice... which will be chaired by city councilwomen michelle chambers?nats?the commission will include pastors... activists... and protest leaders like relando rencher.really getting their side of the story helps and being in meeings instead of just yelling on the street actually getting the message to the right peoplerencher was one of the protesters who set up the unity march with city leaders.he says talks with chief steve reed and mayor henry have been positive.after a few meetings with the mayor saying that this is what we need to do going forawrd i think we're maknig progress they're implenetnig their putting in eight cant waitthe eight cant wait is a nationwide campaign which aims at bringing change within police departments.chief reed says the department already had many in place.all of those eight items we were doing we want to make sure if it wasn't spelled out in policy now it is they include banning chokeholds and strangleholds..

.

Requiring warning before shooting... banning shooting at moving vehicles... comprehensive reporting and use of force continuum.

Protesters who've been hit with tear gas and pepper spray say police have escalated situations with their aggressive approach..

And many say they should ban the use.

Reed says that isn't the case.

"why its used and effective at the time... will the policy change with tear gas used in the future?

I don't see that happening"reed henry and rencher agree this is a positive step forward...we will make significatn changes that will hopefully put most of the people concerned ina more comfortable positionwith more to come.its just the beginning and its a blessing to make real change in the community reporting live ... ?????????
