Parents Begin Petition to Delay EVSC Start Date

Parents are petitioning to delay the start of school for students within the EVSC district.

For the e-v-s-c.

John.

A petition is beginning to circulate for the e-v-s-c to delay their start date of school..

As kids are expected to head back to class on august 5th.

Right now..

It seems states are starting to spike with covid-19 cases..

And many parents are uncomfortable sending their kids back to school in crowded classrooms so soon.

The petition highlights the difficulties of providing proper protection for their kids..

Such as accomplishing adequate social distancing and wearing masks.

The evansville school corporation has stated their current plan..

Giving kids three options on how they want to get their education.

Says, "learning at school..

That is the tradition brick and mortar approach..

But taking in to consideration the factors of ssocial distancing and those types of concerns and considerations.

Option b is remote learning..

That is for short term situations where students find themselves unable to come to school to learn.

They will actually be hooked into their school for that remote experience.

The third option is our virtual academy.

And that virtual academy has been around for nearly a decade and is an outstanding virtual academy.

The virtual academy is a long term plan..

Where students will be signed up for semesters at a time..

Where remote learning is a short term plan.

In order to qualify for remote learning..

It must be a circumstance that is preventing a kid from coming to school..

Such as a diagnosis of covid-19.

After a two week session of remote learning..

A child may return to school on a regular basis.

The remote learning option must be pre- approved by the school..

And dr. smith also assures students will be equipped with the proper technology needed to perform their school work..

No matter which option they choose.
