Parents are considering homeschooling and other virtual learning methods for their kids during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the new school year just a month away, parents are faced with a tough decision.

Whether to send their kids back to the classroom or choose an alternative route.

Fox 55's brianna dahlquist spoke with local parents to if they'd still send their children to school during the pandemic.

"omg it was a nightmare.

Literally, it was terrible.

I am not a teacher, that's not my calling.

And i don't want to be a teacher."chastity meyer of fort wayne says there's no way she'll keep her kids at home if she doesn't have to.

Meyer believes parents should protect their children but she's also a realist."i'm all about keeping people safe, but at what expense?

Because ultimately, are we keeping them safe or causing more damage across the board?

In a recent article the american academy of pediatrics says going to school is good for a child's overall health, even during a pandemic.

But some moms say they just don't feel comfortable having their children in school until its' over.

Reesha howard of fort wayne says homeschooling can be incredibly rewarding!reesha howard:"whatever you wish you would've been taught as a child or whatever you wish your children knew, this is the time to do that at home."

Howard says it can be a lot of fun to learn about your kids, too.

"it helps you to uncover what gifts your kids have so you get to learn about those early on so you can pour more into those gifts."

The mom of four says if parents do decide to homeschool, to trust that they can.

Meyer however says that's not for her ... "we need to move on with our lives."
