Free lunch for kids in Little Falls

Little Falls Community Outreach is providing meals to kids over the summer.

Kids began today in little falls.

It's put on by little falls community outreach.

The nine week meal plan called the 'backpack program'....will feed about 60 families.

The backpacks include breakfast and lunch for seven days...as well as dinner for the weekends.

The backpacks will be distributed each monday at the first presbyterian church in little falls.

Up to four backpacks are distributed to ((volunteers((...who then will give them to those families they know who are in ned in the community.

29% of a residence in little falls are in poverty so we wanted to make sure that kids had food for the weekends so the backpack pack program usually runs for the school year and gives them food on the weekends but because of covid we recognized that kids didn't have access the kids didn't have access to floor during the summer normally the summer summer rec program through the ymca feeds them and that couldn't happen."

They have also planted a garden, wher the fruits and vegetables will be used as part of the program.
