Accused of punching a restrained teenager with autism, at the fayette mall last year, has been reassigned.

Video of the inicident... went viral in february 2019.

...after it was shared on facebook.

It allegedly shows officer donovan stewart, punching the teenager during the teen's arrest at the mall.

Investigators say the teenager was with his friends and the group was reportedly being disorderly.

The police department..

Released a statement today..

Saying..

Officer stewart's position as chaplain, has been eliminated, or dissolved... and stewart , has been reassigned as a patrol officer.

A federal lawsuit filed against stewart earlier this year..

Alleges that stewart went into a "violent rage" during the altercation with the teenager.

The teen's mother, filed the lawsuit against stewart and the city of lexington.

Recent protests against police brutality have included demonstrations against stewart.
