Usually steps up in a big way to help area kids get the supplies they need for back-to- school....this year even though questions loom on how kids will get back...they are still going to need supplies.
Kq2's danielle soxy takes us to grace house to check-in on their annual back-to-school donation program.
<<<giving to the community is something grace house has been doing for yearsbut this summer it's been a struggle to find items to give..."it's been difficult because personally i lost my part-time job.
It was very hard.
It wasn't like i had that extra bit of money to go out there."
During the summer, grace house prepares for their back 2 school shopping event,going out buying supplies, but stores have been low on the supplies due to covid-19"so we've been ransacking everywhere we can get them.
We're still in short need of supplies.
We need scissors, we need markers, we need filler paper, notebook paper is very hard to find.
And composition notebooks.
So if anybody's out there and they have a heart for a child, that would be great.
We would love it."
As the need for donations grow..volunteers continue to do their best to track down items kids will need..."we try to be out thre and catch these bargains really.
And then we have people that have kids that take care of their clothes and we get some good mand-me-downs that are in great shape.
But i made three trips to wal-mart yesterday and our volunteers are out there shopping for more supplies.
I have people my age going out there buying toothbrushes.
I have realators that are getting involved."and at grace house... it only costs a smile to get school gear they need... "you've gotta care for those around you.
You've gotta care for the stranger basically."
