A man convicted of murdering a former Oneonta firefighter has been sentenced to life in prison.
30- year-old gabeil truitt received in otsego county court this morning for murdering former oneonta firefighter john heller.
Truitt set fire to heller's home in december of 2018, after a fight with his girlfriend.
Truitt was foundguit degree murder in january.
The jury took only two hours to come back with the guilty verdict.
John heller, a former oneonta firefighter was able to get his fiance and four nephews out...but he didn't make it.
The coronavirus delayed his sentencing which was supposed to happen on april 3rd.
