BILL SHANKS CHATS WITH JONES COUNTY FOOTBALL COACH MIKE CHASTAIN.

Out for us.

C1 3 b13 what a new report says about them, later in the health minute.

Music.

Now your 41nbc accuweather forecast.

Intro stormcast speaker 1: here with head coach mike chestain from jones county who had a great year in his first season in gray with a gray hounds all the way to the state championship game before losing the bw for 29 to nothing.

Coach lee let's first talk big picture.

Look, this jones county program has been building for the last several years first with coach rogers.

Then you took over last year and continued it to get the team all the way to the state championship game.

Can you just talk about the culture that that has created even with the fact that you've lost 30 seniors and you have players coming in to more prominent roles, but that experience had to be just unbelievably valuable for these young people.

Speaker 2: it was, we did, we had a really good season last year and, um, man, the football, like you said here, that has been growing here and, and, and not inherited a really good place, but i'm going to tell you, it's just, it's been exciting.

Um, we, we have a lot of good, good things coming back, a lot of good pieces of the puzzle coming back and, and, and a lot of exciting new things, um, in store for the future.

I mean, we, we got, uh, a turf field is coming in.

We have a brand new lights put in new stadiums on the business side.

Some of them into place is going to be a phenomenal place.

It was already a great atmosphere perceived to be a phenomenal place, uh, this year for, for, uh, to be able to continue, uh, you know, the tradition starting here, speaker 1: always a challenge for a coach to continue success, especially when you lose as many players as you did it, but did those players who graduated, did they kind of plant the seed for these young players to keep this going for not only this season, but for years to come?

Speaker 2: yes, no doubt.

I can't say enough about that last year.

So senior your class, um, um, you know, being with a successful coach for, for, uh, three years and they have to embrace a new head coach and, and a man that, that group was a special group to me.

I mean, they, they were, uh, just good, just good kids.

I'm a good gun, young men, i should say.

Um, man, just, um, man, i had a blast with them.

I had a really, really good time.

Obviously we had a good season and it's easier to put things to be smooth when, when you're winning in.

But, but man, i really believe no matter what we would have had a good year, cause they're, they're, they're good guys and i'm going to miss a lot of them.

Um, uh, but, but we got, we got a lot of good people coming back and, and a lot of good young people ready to step up.

Well,
