Saturday Morning Weather
Saturday Morning Weather

16 WAPT Meteorologist Christana Kay has the forecast for Jackson and Central Mississippi.

Well.

We saw a lot of sunshine thismorning in downtown Jackson, reallyacross the entire central Mississippiregion.

But clouds will start to be onthe increase as we head throughout therest of the morning into the afternoonhours and rain chases air going to beon the rise as well.

We're going tostop the clock around 12 o'clockalready starting to see some pop upsfrom the Jackson Metro down towardsparts of Brookhaven, even west of I'm55.

But I think the majority of therain is going to be staying along thecoastal counties today.

But most of usare still going to get some action, whether it's a heavy downpour, verybrief or still seeing some thunderstormactivity later in the afternoon.Rainfall wise not really going toaccumulate too much.

But temperatureswere going to warm up to around theupper eighties low nineties.

If you endup getting a heavy downpour in yourarea, expect temperatures to cool offjust ever so slightly and then as wehead to the evening hours, love noticea lot of us staying on the dryer edge.Actually some clearing from cause es godown towards Hazlehurst and broke a bita little bit more cloud cover fromVicksburg down towards matches.

Stillpossibly of a lingering shower too latein the evening hours.

But overall, wewill stay dry for tomorrow, though weare going to get a little bit more onthe weather side.

We'll talk about thatin just a second.

But we do haveTropical Storm Hanna as of around seveno'clock this morning, down upgraded toa Category one hurricane around seveno'clock.

This is going to continue tomove off towards the west fairlyquickly and make landfall later on thisafternoon just towards the south ofCorpus Christi, around 80 mile an hours. So that is a very weak Category onehurricane.

But storm surge warningsacross the Texas coastline, as well asa hurricane warning by overnight Sundaymorning into Sunday afternoon quicklydecreases down to a tropical depression. But heavy rain and strong winds areexpected along the southern edge ofTexas into the northern part of Mexico. But how is that going affect us?

Well,we have this surge of tropical moisturecoming out of the Southeast.

All thanksto continuous counterclockwise rotationcontinue to bring that southeasterlyflow so that thunderstorm activityagain is going to remain farther alongthe coastline both for today andtomorrow.

But we'll still see a fewdeveloping showers and storms later inthe afternoon, tomorrow and for yourMonday.

As for today again, thosethunderstorm activity is really startto increase by the afternoon hours.Highs in the upper eighties lownineties overnight.

Tonight.

Partlycloudy skies with the shower or two.

Byearly this evening, wake uptemperatures are going to be in the lowseventies, and then we're back into theupper eighties low nineties fortomorrow afternoon with the possibilityof a few straight thunderstorms andthen find him on by the first part ofthe week.

Again.

Scattered showers andstorms are on the increase in theafternoon hours.

Temperatures reallynot going to be fluctuating, muchstaying anywhere between the uppereighties Salo nineties
