Winona-Montgomery school district providing hybrid, distance learning options

The Winona-Montgomery Consolidated School District released a new back-to-school plan for students.

Wtvas chelsea brown spoke with the superintendent about what her goals are for the students and when they will be back on campus.

The school district gave parents two options, a hybrid setting and complete distance learning.

For the hybrid setting children with last names a-k would come to school monday and wednesday.

Children with last names l-z would come tuesday and thursday.

On off days children will have projects or reading assignments, a computer would not be needed.

"face to face time with them is important for all of our students but especially our younger students."

Parents can chose to keep their children at home and do distance learning.

All children will receive free breakfast and lunch through the year, even the children not on campus.

"it is well worth it to have our parents not to have that concern throughout the year."

Masks will be required for every student and employee.

The district has hired two new cnas to help out at school.

Common areas will not be used in the buildings and the buildings will be regularly cleaned daily with a deep cleaning once a week.

"a great responsibility not only to protect my 1300 students and their families they are going back home to but the 200 employees i have here as well."

Superintendent jackson told me that about 20% of parents as of now have chose to keep their kids at home and do distance learning.

The first day back to school will be august 10th.
