Owensboro Public Schools Host Facebook Live Q&A

As the school year approaches.

OPS answered more than 50 questions live on Facebook on Tuesday to help ease the minds of concerned parents..

At 10 am on tuesday, owensboro public schools answered over 50 submitted questions from parents via a facebook live q a, and after more than an hour of answering questions, parents are feeling safer about having their children returning in the fall.

Parent of ops student?it was really easing my anxiety in regards to sending my child to in-session classroom.

I highly recommend that other school districts complete this with their parents.

It kind of makes them feel like theye a part?

More than 150 viewers tuned in to watch this live q a ops answered more than 40 pre- submitted questions, then took to the comment section of the video to answer another 10.

The questions asked ranged from mask wearing rules to extra-curricular activities, but one topic that was brought up by many was child care programs for the three days where students won be in- person.?wee working with several community partners on options for childcare on the days that students aren scheduled to meet in person, and so filling out that child care survey will really give those community partners the information that they need to properly plan to have students in their facilities on days where theye not in school?

A survey was given out to ops parents asking about how much child care service they would need now that owensboro schools will only have students in- person 2 days a week.

And revlett told 44news that they don have the child care plans fully completed, but theye hoping that the plans will either be free for parents or extremely affordable.

The only decision ops parents have to make now are whether they want their children to come in on monday tuesday or thursday and friday.

But there is still one decision upcoming for the school district to make.

September 18th will be the deadline where we will make a decision moving forward after fall break.

If the restrictions are lifted, and we re able to bring all the students back that are on the a/b model to be in person, we may look at doing that.

Again, virtual academy will remain virtual academy through the end of that first semester.

If you missed the live q a, you can visit ops facebook page and rewatch it, in it entirety and if you felt like you still have unanswered questions, you can visit their website at reopen.traditio n1871.com and submit one.
