In this week's parenting and pregnancy we visit a local fitness studio that supports pregnant and post- partum women... and ask the question: how active should we be?

A staggering statistic -- dr. kelel with women's care says that it's so important to stay active before, during and after pregnancy.

Kk so obvious reasons will be weight management in pregnancy, it also reduces your risk of gestational diabetes.

And it helps people that have anxiety and depression to control those symptoms women should get 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity a week, or about 30 minutes, 5 days a week.

Moderate aerobic activity means you should be out of breath, but able to hold a conversation.

Jn one of our favorite things to tell people, no matter who they are, is to listen to their body.

And it's actually a really difficult skill to cultivate in our fast-paced world to quiet down the outside, and tune in and think about what is my body telling me if the body signals negative pain, there are many ways postures can be modified.

But when it comes to pregnancy, dr. kelel says there are other warning signs that a woman should stop immediately.

Kk if you have any uterine contractions, or any vaginal bleeding, especially bright red bleeding.

Light headedness, dizziness.

If you're on the borderline of high blood pressure and your realizing that you blood pressure is being impacted by that exercise, you probably shouldn't be doing it either dr. kelel says women should also avoid activities that could cause direct abdominal trauma.

Or any hot workouts.

Dr. kelel says it takes a woman's body about 6 weeks to recover, but women can start walking and doing low impact activities as soon as they're
