Alonna Allison was found lying on a driveway wounded from gunfire the night of Aug.

29, 2015 after celebrating with her friends at a house party on the 2700 block of Schaper Drive in Fort Wayne.

Tonight--- a family continues to mourn the loss of their daughter.

She was shot five years ago at a house party in southeast fort wayne... caught in crossfire between rival gangs.

Fox 55's mallory beard met with the family as they celebrated what would've been her twenty second birthday today.

Leroy allison's daughter had just turned 17 a week earlier.

"it's six years and it still feels like yesterday."

She would be celebrating her twenty second birthday today.

But she was gunned down when celebrating her birhtday with friends.

Leroy allison didn't know that was the last night she'd say goodbye to him.

Leroy allison//alonna's father "i don't want to see anyone else go through this."

Ten point coalition's lewis king says young people dying at the hands of gun violence is a major problem.

Leroy allison//alonna's father "it's rampant.

This violence is killing our youth.

And it needs to stop."

No one has been charged in alonna's death.

King says there must be a community effort to help families grieving the loss of their loved ones.

He says it's time to speak up.leroy allison//alonna's father "yes we talk about black lives matter.

All lives matter.

But black lives matter when people say something and they don't want to see the crime that is plaguing our community."

Leroy allison//alonna's father "i lived in this area."

Leroy allison says he's experienced racism and violence firsthand on the street where his daughter was gunned down.

"i lived in this area .... when i was about 13 or 14... on this same street that my daughter got killed on."

But he says the change must start with the black community in fort wayne if they want to see homicide rates go down.

Leroy allison//alonna's father "we've been doing this to ourselves.

I understand we have this and we have that but majority of the killings of our young black men have been by the hands of another black man."

And ultimately lessen the suffering he and other families have to endure for the rest of their lives.

Leroy allison//alonna's father "i love my daughter and i miss her.

Like i said, if anybody else has got to go through this...you'll want to stop this."
