Starkville Academy students gush over their excitement for the Volunteers first home game and enjoy the sense of normalcy.

In the golden triangle, starkville academy took on french camp in a 2-quarter match-up game... wtva's rhea thornton talked with fans about the vols first home game of the season.

I'm here at starkville academy's football field for the vols second match-up of the season... and the fans may have matched my excitement to be back by the gridiron... jackson easton - freshman: "i'm just glad to have it back" starkville academy hosted a 2-quarter game against french camp this evening and junior volunteer anna grace moyen says school wouldn't have been the same without friday night football.

Anna grace moyen - junior at starkville academy: "it's definitely part of the south, just playing football and going to your high school games and just seeing your home team win."

Although high school football may be back, things look a little different in and out of the stadium.

Along with wear masks, junior at starkville academy, catherine simmons say seating is very limited.

Catherine simmons - junior at sa: "we only have two tickets per person.

We've never had that before."

Even with the changes, anna grace says she's just glad to have part of her high school experience back... anna grace moyen: "i'm really excited.

It makes it feel kind of normal with the whole pandemic that we're still able to play some football."

And with two games under their belt, volunteer freshman jackson easton says he thinks the team will be able to finish strong... jackson easton - freshman: "i feel like we have a good chance this year.

We have a really good roster and i feel like if the team works hard they'll have a good year."
