These kids come to school every day, come to work every day, through this pandemic, through the thought that you know tomorrow we may not have this.

(track) the week of the jamboree, several mantachie mustangs contracted the coronavirus.

Every player went into quarantine meaning they'd miss the jamboree and the opening game of the season.

A hard pill to swallow for the seniors.

(seth guin) at first it was devasting, but looking back it ain't that bad, at least we get to be out here now.

But i mean we won't ever get those games back.

(reed hester) it hit us in the gut a little bit but we all knew that we have to wait and keep being ready and do everything we can at home.

(bridge) and after their quarantine was up earlier this week they found out that their opponent thrasher, had to go into quarantine as well so their first opportunity to play on their home field was in jeopardy but coach adams and found an opponent for friday night.

(adams) we got the call and its like you know at that point in time its like ok let's stop just a second and try to figure it out.

(track) ashland had an open date and agreed to come down to mantachie to fill the open slot.

One of the things coach adams has brought to the mantachie program is a sense of pride of where they come from.

Something that hit home for senior seth guin.

(seth) we have a wall that has helmets on it with years we've made it to the playoffs, my dad, my uncle, my family and i thought it'd be great if added something to it as well.

(track) and it all starts tonight against ashland.

After enduring a stressful summer, a 14 day quarantine, the mustangs are ready to bring some pride to their hometown.

(seth) we haven't won a home game since i've been in high school and it would be huge to do that for the community for the school and everybody who's been waiting here for so long.
