Parts of our community were on edge today after false rumors of violent protests occurring in Utica and New Hartford were spread across social media.
An ad was posted on Craiglist looking to hire people to protest at the New Harford Shopping Center

A peaceful march in utica today...no violence.
We were made aware of rumors that there could be potential violence, but none of that happened during the march for justice today.
It started at oneida square and went to the utica police department.
Several activist groups were there, sending different messages some harsher than others.
News channel 2's brent kearney was there and reports on how this demonstration stayed civil.
Protesters have gathered here outside of utica police for a peaceful rally in the week of that incident involving a utica police officer using unauthorized force during an arrest last week.

Testers chanted scanner and waved flags as cars went by.
They then moved here to upd where several people made speeches about the change they are seeking in our community i spoke to one organizer earlier that said they commend upd and the city for how they handled the incident kimberly says: " now in terms of the craigslist post about a protest in new hartford in new hartford this group says it had nothing to do with them they did not post it.
They wanted to keeps things peaceful, and it sure seems to be going that way at the moment.
