As high school players hit the field this evening and college teams plan for saturday, there are others - players - who want to get back in the game.

Today the golden triangle kings semi pro football team held their first tryout.

And as wcbi's bobby martinez found out, this time is about more than football.

In life second, chances may be hard to come by.

But when they do - its critical to make the best of it.

And here in columbus, young adults are being given that chance through sports.

They are called the golden area triangle kings semi pro football team.

And to them - it is bigger than the game of football.

--------- coaching these young adults on the field..

"watch team captain all eyes on t captain on my whistle.

And off the field.

"we are the here to support those that did not have that support."

The game of football is determined by yards and inches.

The goal being the team with the most points when the clock strikes zero.

But when some of these young adults leave the field..

That is when the real game starts.

Chris tuggle - owner - gta kings "we are the gta kings and we just want people to know that we support them."

Chris tuggle - part owner of the gta kings.

Says it is important now more than ever to have an outlet for these young adults to pursue their dreams. chris tuggle - owner - gta kings "the covid everyone is stuck in the house.

And you have all these frustration from things just not working right.

You have depression that even comes in where people feel like there's nothing to wake up and go and do."

Rackenna tuggle - who is also part ower of the team.

Says being on this team... you will always have a shoulder to lean on anytime of the day.

Rackenna tuggle - team owner - gta kings "whether it was maybe parental death when they were younger.

You know i've seen a lot of people in orphanages come to us or people that are out in the streets.

We help them the best way we can buy encouraging them giving them the words and the opportunity.

The main thing is we are trying to give them the opportunity."

And captain darius dunlap, is living proof of gta's mission.

" it's very beautiful i'm one of those people that believe in second chances.

I got hurt in college and didn't make it through college football.

This is my second chance and i'm here to display that."

On cam tag..

And if you would like to learn more on how you could join the team.

I'll have more information for you on our website a wcbi.com.
