Here in aberdeen, the mississippi department of education delivered new laptops and ipads for the students.

I spoke with the superintendent about why getting the devices is important now.

"it is critical for us since we went with the hybrid model."

Superintendent jeff clay says kindergarden through 3rd grade recieved 350 ipads.

4th grade through 12th recieved 825 chrome books from the mississippi department of education.

Clay says this is enough for all students.

"we would love to grow; we would love to have an increase in enrollment but it is enough right now" the school district got the laptops and ipads last week.

Workers inventoried them before giving them out to students.

Clay says today is the first day students are getting the laptops.

For students working outside of school, i asked clay if the wifi at the school is availiabe from the parking lots.

"it doesn't now but we are working on that" the school is planning on using money through the broadband act to extend the wifi coverage.

"some of the students that may not have internet at home, we do have hotspots that they can check out" tag students will get to take the laptops home each day but at the end of the school
